Frontend frameworks like React and Angular are on their way to being superseded by Vue. Its unique features (compared to React/Angular) include incremental integration with existing projects and the ease of creating and maintaining small applications. Due to its popularity, it can be used to build products that last for years.

Dependents on GitHub

In the past year alone, 46,52% more apps did not run without Vue. Interestingly, Vue still has high usage on GitHub, whereas Angular 2+ did, and AngularJS usage is even lower than a year ago.

BuiltWith

We can see from the current Internet landscape (May 2022) that VUE, although not widespread, is growing steadily. Vue.js has doubled the number of live and historical websites, and the number of live sites has already exceeded 2 million since January 2021.

Angular has far fewer websites in the top 1 million than Vue. Although the number of top 10k projects it built was less than React, it increased from 4,99% (in 2021) to 7,14%, making it an extremely significant contributor.

NPMtrends

Angular and Vue go hand in hand, according to NPMtrends. Vue’s use may be less than React’s, but it’s growing steadily. The number of downloads of npm packages is still crawling at a little over 300k in Svelte.

NPM-stat

According to NPM-stat, the number of packages downloaded each year confirms previous trends.

Statista

In August 2021, Statista surveyed 67,593 developers about their framework of choice. Since 2020, Vue has climbed two places and is now ranked 5th, with 19% of respondents confirming its use.

Web usage statistics & market share

Vue has fueled the growth of countless websites and unique domains since its inception. It seems as if Angular is in a decline or a dip, while React-based domains have almost doubled in number.

Questions for Stack Overflow

There is an increase in the number of questions asked on Stack Overflow regarding Vue and React. Vue’s comprehensive documentation could explain why it is more beginner-friendly than React. In addition, both Vue and React are gaining popularity, attracting more beginners. Svelte itself has seen a minimal share of questions since around 2017 and fewer about Angular and AngularJS.

State of JS

Developers are increasingly embracing Vue.js, as the authors of State of JS 2021 found. It reached its highest level since tracking began, with 51%. While Vue.js is easy to learn, more React developers are already experienced in this framework and would use it again if given the opportunity. More than half of the respondents in SoV 2021 described Vue.js as easy to learn.

Google Trends

Despite having a wide range of interests, Google Trends is one of the best sources for gauging popularity. Vue has been trending once again since October 2020, slowly recovering from the drop in interest around October 2020.

Social media

Last but not least, we can check out Vue’s social media presence to see how it is doing. Two of the most authoritative social sources are Reddit and Twitter. Considering Vue’s growth over the years, it’s clear that it continues to flourish.
