Hiring the right PHP developer can be very tricky. You really can’t tell how resourceful or talented someone is until you hire them. Also, you can’t tell how motivated or how good a fit they are until they start working in the company. – the capability to produce and update technical documentation, to work on projects of various scales and sizes.

3. Senior PHP Developer

Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Technology, at least six years of experience with PHP, LAMP stack, and MySQL, Advanced skills in PHP customization and OOP skills, expertise in JS frameworks, Laravel, and WordPress.

Soft skills: Being able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.

The future for PHP apps

In 2021, PHP is still one of the top ten programming languages worldwide. Github predicts that PHP will probably be in fourth place through the years 2015-2018. In February of 2019, TIOBE gave it the 8th place ranking (compared to the 7th place a year before). The reasons it will probably remain popular in the next few years are its key features. First of all its open-source, flexible, universal, and user-friendly. Secondly, it is compatible with Apache, IIS, and MySQL interfaces. Next, it’s easy to learn, has low costs in developing and maintaining, gives the developer a high level of control, and is independent of platforms. Finally, PHP has OOP support and can host CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress.

Before you decide who to choose, you need to take the following steps in hiring a PHP programmer.

Do not limit your interview questions to include only these. Ask other questions more specific to your project and work ethic. Also, provide a test or ask them to code so you can see how skilled the candidate actually is.
